Jean-Luc Mélenchon: Revolution in the 21st Century

Monday, April 21, 2025
6:00PM
Proshansky Auditorium
CUNY Graduate Center
365 5th Avenue

Join Jacobin, Verso Books, and CUNY’s Center for Place, Culture and Politics for a special evening with Jean-Luc Mélenchon on his first ever visit to the United States.

A central figure in the French left and the founder of La France Insoumise, Mélenchon has been at the forefront of struggles against austerity, neoliberalism, and the far right in Europe. At a time of global political realignment, his vision of radical democracy and ecological planning offers a crucial alternative to both neoliberalism and reactionary nationalism.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon will address an American audience for the first time in speech, then Jacobin editorial director and Nation president Bhaskar Sunkara will join Mélenchon for a wide-ranging conversation on the future of the Left in France, the United States, and beyond. Afterward, Mélenchon will sign his new book, out this month from Verso, Now, the People! Revolution in the Twenty-First Century.

Registration required here.

This event is co-organized by the Center for Place, Culture and Politics and Social Practice at CUNY. It is Free and Open to the Public, but space is limited:
