The concept of “The Commons” has become ubiquitous in the political, economic, and even the real estate language of our time; conservatives and anarchists alike use it in their political interventions. How, then, might the term’s meaning and significance be clarified to help point beyond the capitalist horizon? On April 10, join George Caffentzis, Silvia Federici, and AK Thompson to discuss this question.

George Caffentzis is an Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at the University of Southern Maine. He is the author of many books and articles on capitalism and class struggle, including In Letters of Blood and Fire: Work, Machines, and the Crisis of Capitalism (2013)

Silvia Federici is Emerita. Professor at Hofstra University and a long time feminist activist, teacher and writer. Her publications include Revolution at Point Zero. Housework, Reproduction, and Feminist Struggle (2012) and Caliban and the Witch: Women, the Body and Primitive Accumulation (2004). 

AK Thompson is a writer and social theorist. His publications include Sociology for Changing the World: Social Movements / Social Research (2006) and Black Bloc, White Riot: Anti-Globalization and the Genealogy of Dissent (2010).
