Envisioning Social and Public Housing Futures
This half-day mini-conference will kick off with an open conversation led by tenants leading the fight to preserve public housing in New York City. The organizers are members of Save Section 9, Residents to Preserve Public Housing, Neighbors Helping Neighbors-Rockaway Hub, the Committee for Independent Community Action, and Justice for All Coalition. After they share their analysis of the current housing climate in NYC, an international panel of housing academics will share comparative research and perspectives on public and social housing across cities. This second open conversation features Raquel Rolnik, Glyn Robbins, Sneha Sumanth, Kristen Hackett, and Jaime Jover.
This event is organized and cosponsored by the Center for Place, Culture, and Politics at the CUNY Graduate Center, The People’s Forum, and Gittel Collective. It is free and open to the public.
